A rogue and criminal tenant sprayed offensive and racially motivated abuse across her landlord’s car after she was evicted from her privately rented property.
A court was told how Dalina Pop, 34, sprayed the words ‘rapist’ and ‘Arab’ across her landlords BMW after she was evicted from her flat. Pop was told to leave the property, which she shared with her landlord Ovace Miller, on the 5th of August 2015.
Reports of tenant abuse are seldom reported, however actions of revenge and abuse following evictions are often more common than currently realised.
Mr Miller had left his car parked in the street outside the rented property. In the morning, he returned to find that it had been vandalised. Pop had sprayed various words and phrases, including ‘racist,’ ‘Arab’ and ‘no means no’ across the white BMW 6 series car.
Southwark Crown Court was told that Miller has since been forced to pay a sizeable £17,000 to get the car resprayed as a result of the damage inflicted by the tenant.
Following the offence, Pop, who now resides in Hampstead, voluntarily presented herself in front of Charing Cross Police Station four days after committing the act. She appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Friday to deny a single charge of racially aggravated criminal damage. A trial date has been set by Judge Andrew Goymer for October.
Regarding the case, the judge commented: ‘I will readmit the defendant to bail with the condition that she does not contact the complainant either directly or indirectly.’
Referring to the tenant, he continued: ‘Your case, if it goes to trial, will be listed for trial in the week starting 2 October.’
The tenant, Dalina Pop, who is now residing at West End Lane, West Hampstead, northwest London, was bailed to return at the set trial date.
